some questions about brakes Ok, i'm looking at upgrading my brakes for a future buildup/motorswap (still deciding). What i want are brakes that can handle at least a 350whp car(want to a bit overkill just to make sure they are good) i have looked Baer brakes. a local shop will sell me a full bbk setup for the fronts for ~950 now the rears i'm going to swap in a m3 rear subframe and man tranny so i will need some rear brakes that will bolt up to a m3. the subframe is coming out of a 98 m3. but if i were to go with the Baer brakes i would want to go the same brand all around. i have read some things like how scottycs is putting e46 330 calipers on his brakes. would i be able to peice togethor a bbk for the front and rear? i'm thinking that 13" rotors with at least dual piston calipers should be good for my application, what do you all think? any input would be appreciated as brakes are not really something i know a whole lot about. Thanks Tom

ok cool, so i would be able to swap say cross drilled and slotted rotors meant for a 330 onto my car and just swap on some 330 calipers and be able to bring a car like that to a hault pretty well? as for how i expect to get that kind of power, well there is a local shop that has experience turbocharging BMW's that claims they will be able to get my 300whp on a turbo setup all though i'm still a bit skeptical so i'm getting things prepped for a hi power motor whatever i decide to do either motor swap or this big turbo setup that they claim they will be able to accomplish, sure would be cool if they are able to though. oh yes and btw where did you get the 330 calipers? are you going to do a writeup on how the install goes? cuz i'm curious to see how much of an improvement they make over the stock ones. Thanks Tom ..............maybe someone else can chime in and give me some pointers? Last edited by 943184dr; 05-10-2003 at 10:48 PM..

| Yes, I think the only rotor out now that is crossdrilled is by brembo. I think its a stock rotor drilled and CAD plated. All you will need is Caliper and carrier. Then just get some 330 rotors and pads and you are set. It is a complete bolt on system. If you want a even better upgrade you might try gettin a M3 master cylinder as well, but I am unsure about how much that will help. Otherwise if you want more stopping power get a BBK. At 300 whp they must be talking massive boost.

thats what i would be thinking but i'm going to talk to the shap once i get close to having to come to a decision about what i'm going to do motor wise. as for the brakes. would the 330 brakes bolt on to the rear subframe out of the m3 i'm swapping in? or would i need to get brakes out of a e46 m3? do you think it would be that big of a difference betweent the 330 brakes and a bbk? Thanks Tom

ok cool, yes i am going to be swapping in a complete rear subframe. would it be worth it to swap in e46 m3 brakes? or could i even do that? or would the stock m3 calipers and some aftermarket rotors and pads be good? Thanks for all the help Tom
