| I have a 325is installed M3 cams with the JC Chip and my car has lost a lot of low end, and the top doesn't feel as fast as It was before. it idles close enough to what stock did, so I think they are installed correctly. I'm going to go get it dyno'd and see what how the car is running, however I suspect it is running too rich or lean. how do I correct this without getting another chip reprogrammed. errr... argh... Thanks for your time. Jeremy

| a little insight on the problem: the techs who installed my cams, adjusted the timing to the stock spec for the 95 325is. is this right? occasionally the car stalls from idle. when I tried the stock chip the car stalled pretty much every time I let go of the gas peddle. when installing the cams, do they have to adjust the timing to an M3 spec? There is no power from idle to 3.5k and after I floored it I smelled something burning??? PLEASE HELP. Thank you for your effort and time.

| I had the same exact problem with my car when I had my Schrick cams installed, here is my thread on it from BF: http://bimmerforums.com/forum/showth...ighlight=spark The problem was the timing on them was wrong and also the vanos was not setup correctly. You should have it checked out by someone who knows cams well. Good Luck |

| any body know if you set the cam timing to the stock 325 spec? ( this is what the shop told me) if so, then could it be the VANOS not installed properly? how do you check this? what do I tell the shop, they say the timing is aligned 100% ( they double checked) can some one explain the process of how to set timing for the cams and how it relates to the VANOS unit? unfortunatley these guys supposedly are the best for euro cars... I have two weeks, until my driving school and I need to get this resolved asap.

| Thanks, for the input.. Hopefully it will be just the VANOS not aligned, and that will fix it. so to what I understand, 1) align the CAMS 2) align the VANOS any other catchs that might cause problems? Thanks everybody.

| I double checked, and they said they had aligned the VANOS and the TIMING (and they double checked.) what else could the problem be?

| ... off hand possibility - but it could be somethign wrong wit hthe VANOS - like a oil return line plugged or something. That would cause the timing to be off. I'm assuming you do regular maintenece on your car -so it wouldnt be something like fouled plugs. But they are worth a check too. -JinX

car is regularly maintained. the techs who did my car check my plugs ( and it would most likley missfire then if plugs were going? ) I have never had any problems with the VANOS prior to installation of cams, either way I'm taking it back in on wednesday, and hopefully it will be resolved by then. ![]()

| well went and dropped it off this morning, I mentioned it might be the VANOS not aligned properly. I asked them if they adjusted the VANOS, and they veered from the question... " we've done cars like these before and worked 100%" so I asked them if they had a VANOS adjusting tool, and they said no. I asked them "how can you do a cam job if you can't adjust the vanos, well they replied " you don't need every BMW tool to do a cam job. so I figure the VANOS is off, as they double checked the Timing. so now I'm getting a quote from BMW to do the CAM and VANOS adjustment. what a waste of money... another thing: is it normal to tick REALLY Loud from 2k-3k rpm? sounds like the chain is loose or something... or I guess it could be the VANOS not aligned?
