| It is between 15 and 20 lbs for the hood. I have never seen cf fenders, who sells them? If you want some real weight savings, you should look into the aluminum doors from the LTW. They save 70 lbs. |

| the only reason i can see getting the carbon fiber fenders is to get z3 like fenders or some sore of body mod like that. otherwise they aren't really worth the money. now the doors would be nice but i dont think that peytonrm noticed that you have a TI so i'm not sure if they would fit your car. but i bet you could get the custom made ones from MA shaw but those are likt 900 each i think. i thought that the difference in the hood was more like 30-40 lbs? ah yes you can also get a trunk lid i think the difference there is like 20 lbs or so but i'm guessing on that one and its about 450 from MA shaw. Those numbers would be for a fiberglass hood. A genuine carbon fiber hood would weigh roughly 8-10 pounds. Which is about a 35+ pound weight savings. Edit: Stay tuned boys. Last edited by PortalBMW : 04-05-2003 at 11:03 AM. |

I dont think MA Shaw makes "carbon fiber" stuff. Its mainly fiberglass. |

| Actually, MA Shaw is all real cf stuff. Also, their doors are 950 for a pair, so the price isn't bad. However, they're for track use only and I'd guess would pull major tickets if cops saw them. It might be possible to reinforce the doors with kevlar or aluminum bars to make them street legal. It would add some weight but they'd still be lighter than the alu ltw ones... |

| No they're not. Just cause they say "composite hood" doesnt mean its carbon fiber. A composite hood could refer to emlers glue and newspaper, aka papermache or even playdoh with hay in it. They are not all CF I can tell you that. Friend just bought a "cf trunk" from them yet its all glass with the primary layer being carbon fiber. And they only use one layer because when you put the thing up to the light you can see right through it. Chris |

| So, just say you had all MA Shaw panels on your car, how many pounds would be dropped from the stock weight? Also, are there panels not street legal due to how unsturdy/un-reinforced they are? And last, how much would it cost to do up you whole car with the MA Shaw panels. Thanks |

| thanks for the info. I asked because im putting a 3.2 in and was curious how I could try and compensate for the extra weight on the front. Ill probably just do a CF hood only if I can run it without pins. Yes it would be PAINTED to match, I want factory look. |

| the weight savings is about 35lbs for the hood stock is 45 CF is 12lbs the LTW doors would not fit fenders not worth it...do the swap and hood relocate the battery to the trunk.
