| I think that you are on the right track. When I have had trouble with hunting idle on my various vehicles, the problem was always an air leak somewhere.
Two things happen when the car warms up - 1) Mixture control goes closed loop so it is trying to precisely control its air/fuel mixture, so an air leak will drive it crazy, and 2) Everything metal expands so any gap between metal parts may open up wider, letting in more air.
Carefully examine the air tube from the MAF to the throttle body, and of course the tubes to the IAC. If you have a propane torch or a can of starter fluid, spray around the intake manifold while the car is running to see if you have a vacuum leak where the manifold meets the head, or anywhere else. Also, if you have a volt/ohm meter, check your throttle position sensor, I have posted the Ohm readings here before so they should turn up on a search. Trouble is that I don't recall whether I posted instuctions for OBDI or II. I think they are slightly different. |
