Ok a few problems, I have a 93 318is.
All the lights in the car pulsate, I am pretty sure its just the voltage regulator, the alternator seems to be over-charging the battery, it has around 14.8-15.5V coming out.
Where can I get one in Australia preferably, and how do I know which alternator I have, there don't appear to be any markings on it. How easy would this be to install myself? I am a bit of a beginner, and have limited tools.
Second problem, the low beam headlight on the left has no power going to it... why?
Third problem, something in the rear rattles, sounds like its coming from the wheels, at first I thought it was the rear suspension mounts, but I replaced them and no difference. Could it be the anti rattle clips on the brake calipers? Where can I get replacement ones?

well if memory serves me right ( i may have to check on this in the morn) but there are two type of alternator for the E36 a 60 amp and 80 amp. there should be a stamped marking on it to tell which one. it's fairly easy, just in a tight spot.

how do you know it has no power going to the lowbeam? is the bulb out? replace the bulb..
of use a multi meter or test light to find out if power is going there. it could either be a fuse or fray wire.

when does this rattle happen? all the time when you drive? when you run over a bump?

I found that it was a valeo but couldnt find how many amps, but after going through everything in my log books and stuff i found a peice of paper saying it had a 105A Valeo.
I tested the connection with a multimeter and nada.
the rattle happens when I go over bumps or rough road.
