| Personally I will never stretch a tire but.."Different strokes for different folks"... If you want to tuck your rims in to stop rubbing when you drop ur ride don't stretch, find a rim repair shop that has a big enough lathe to cut the rims inner surface where your rim mates to ur rotor(cost me $20 a rim). Normally factory aluminum BMW rims are safe if u keep the removal measurement to 3mm to suck in ur rim offset to clear ur fenders, make sure u have enough room on the inside when u suck ur rim in so u dont rub on ur strut or fender well. when u stretch ur tire u use a tire not wide enough for your rims this allows less surface contact (grip) that holds u to the ground. and/or if ur looking for grip keep a wider tire but a lower profile with hard suspension(reduces ur suspension travel). rolling ur fender slightly is another alternative (if u do roll ur fender a trick to not crack ur paint when u do so is take a razor blade and cut a line in ur paint on the inside of ur fender just where you don't see it(stick to rolling ur quarter panel fender wells since front fenders don't roll well), u don't have to do the whole length of the fender just the surface area u will be rolling...dont cut too deep if u cut through past the primer u will start to rust around that area so just to be safe use clear touch paint brushed on so ur safe for sure.. |
