OBC clock screen not working?? Please help Ok so this past weekend i went down to galveston and parked the car at the beach house on concrete driveway, it was inactive for one day and when i started it the next day i could feel the struggle on the ignition switch i figured it was just the humidity and after it started it was fine and running and the OBC with the clock and date and mpg and all that was working great too. The next day when i was leaving i noticed that the clock and date screen was black and when i tried to set the time it wouldnt light up?? i dont know whats wrong with it, i know that there is a strong magnetic field down there bc a cell phone battery will die in a day even if not in use so idk if that has something to do with it or not? If anyone has any ideas on how i can fix this that would be great Thank you

Oy ! your sure its not a dead pixels ? ... i would maybe take the OBC out of the dash and see if its hooked up properly? Maybe test it to see if its getting any juice.

Dark clock and OBC usually just means that the bulbs across the top of the OBC are burnt out. Seems unlikely that all four bulbs would go at once, so you may have a more serious problem. Stick your finger up through the hole below the OBC and pop it out. You have to pull hard, and a putty knife around the edge to get the bumps to snap out of their recesses and let go is sometimes helpful. The bulbs are in little black twist-out sockets across the top of the display. Check them with an ohm-meter to see if they are burnt out.

The BMW part is 62 13 1 383 311 and the dealer charges about $6 each for them. they're 12V 1.2W in a black plastic 1/4turn socket. You can find them on line for about $2 each
