Help with wheels.

I'm new to this forum and I apologize if anyone feels this is a stupid question,and if this is posted in the wrong place, I am sorry.

I have a 93 325IS with the sport package. I find the handling "mushy" with the 15in rims. I want to upgrade my wheels and it seems that 17's are very popular for these cars. My concern is ride quality. I want firm, but not harsh or jarring. My hesitation comes from my previous car, a Saab 900 turbo with 17" rims and it went through strut tower mounts about once a year. I went back to 16's and it was fine.

If you have 17's on your E36, I would love to hear your opinions on this.

I have 17's on my 325, i don't notice any more harshness at all, but i also have Bilstein Coilovers so my ride height is also a tad lower aswell.

Thanks for the reply. I had planned to put a Tokico suspension (springs and shocks) on the car and was afraid that the combo of big wheels, small sidewalls and uprated suspension would make it un-drivable on winter-ravaged New England roads. what brand are your 17's? What is the

I run 17's and it's lowered the ride is great particularly for the Harsh Sydney roads I drive on.

i have 17s on my m3 and it doesnt ride any harsher than my buddies 325 and he has 15s

they are 225/45 Dunlop Sp Sport 2000 E tires on the BBS RG-R rims,

Going from 15" to 17" wheels in my 328 with Bilstein PSS9's is noticeable. I don't mind it, but there is more NVH all around. I still like the 17" wheels in the summer.
