| All this talk of 1/4 times, did you buy your BMW to drag race? And as far as swapping engines, you may as well put the most reliable, best performing engine you can in there. Get over your complex, if thats what you want to do, do it.

| hey man if your're still thinking about the different motor swaps or doin the sr20det i would highly suggest the rb25t, it's a 2.5l single turbo skyline motor from the rear wheel drive skyline someone mentioned earlier about the rb26tt which is twin turbo for the all wheel drive skyline. the rb25t puts out about 100 more hp than the sr20det and i don't think it costs too much more. also it's rear wheel drive so that helps instead of trying to get the rb26tt and dealing with awd tranny. either way if you get a nissan motors it'll be expensive adn very time consuming. trying to get a tranny to hook up, ecu, tuning, i'm assuming lots of fabricating to a wiring harness to get it too work, motor mounts, and i'm sure there are plenty of other things. a BMW swap would be easier and more practical, but if you have the time and money for a nissan motor go for it. good luck

if you wanna put rb26dett in 36 you better use rb25det trans then it'll be RWD. |

| I think a big thing you guys are overlooking is the balance of the car. If you are talking about drag racing then going with the biggest engine is probably going to be better. There's some variance when you're talking about forced induction. I haven't been able to find exact numbers, but I'm going to guess the SR20det is going to have a better power/weight ratio then a M20 or M30, and overall give the car a better weight distribution among the four tires. You should check out nicoclub.com and/or zilvia.net. There are some mean SR20s out there. |

| Thread from the dead. Just want to add some of my own comments. As for the RB25, great motor. Same as the 26, but with a slightly different head. The RB20 is also a good motor. My buddy and I are going to be installing a RB, CA18, or SR20 into his 240sx S13. The SR20 is a great motor because it is light, and has a great power potential. The cost to mod it is not that high, and working on it is quite simple. As for the BMW drag racing comment, many people do drag them. As a matter of a fact, I bought mine soley for that purpose. Odd I guess? ![]() Many people bash the SR20 swap, and I will say a few things about it. I would not do it into a 6 cylinder car. I would put it in a E30 with a m20, because the power potential is not super high for the price. And I would put it into a 318, because not trying to be a dick, but I am not too impressed by that motor. The SR20 would (no doubt in my mind) outperform the 4cyl in just about any contest of speed. But, glad to hear you came to a choice. Is it running? How does she perform?
