shaggs...well...you have a lot to learn. You really felt a difference from that j/c chip ? I ran three different chips: dinan, turner, and stock m3 . Never felt a difference-----until the headers, exhaust kit, intercooler and dinan super-charger kit. 400 bhp ...and i i cant forget the day i had to sell all the chips on ebay because the ONLY WAY I COULD GAIN THAT H.P. WAS TO GET THE ECU RE-PROGRAMMED AND ALL OF MY AIR-TEMP SENSORS REMAPPED. You will come to learn that "bolt on's" are bulls**t.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see when I go drag racing again. I'm currently running 13.88, so if I do better then I know it works. Oh and when I do run a better time don't say it was because I had a better reaction time or that I hit the shift points better because that last run I did to get the 13.88 was with a .095 rt and I hit every shift pretty much perfectly. But like I said we'll have to wait and see!!

If you love the SR20 so much just buy a Nissan RWD to put it in ya big dummy. It's going to cost way too much fabricate and not to mention the time it will take to test and tune and get the wiring correctly, I mean come on are you trying to bring up controversy?

Try this on for size.

lol yeah it'll cost pooploads to put it in... might end up costing more $ per HP than building the 318's engine then u got compliance n all that shit... either get a 6cyl BMW, spend money on the one u got or do up the sr but leave it in the cars its in.

Doesnt matter what people think its up to each individual.

The SR20DET has about 147kw stock and 265 nm
A stock M52 (2.8ltr 6cyl) has about 142kw and 280 nm

When you look at that there both about the same. It wont be hard to extract more power from the SR20DET

With just a good exhaust, intercooler & running on 12psi you should easily pull 170kw+ atw.

That black E36 has an S2000 engine in it.... It had a US spec M engine in there first, which is why it got way better.

About the whole SR20DET swap issue...

My E30 Touring has a M30 swapped in it. I own several engines, one being a turbo charged KA24DE, the other being a slightly modded Mustang 5.0.

The main reasons I installed the M30 were:

A: Still serviceable by BMW.
B: Much more grunt down low, which I like.
C: BMW engines mount straight to BMW trannies.
D: The M30 block can handle more bhp than any of them BY FAR.
E: BMW's are much easier to repair than their JDM counterparts.
F: I can swap in many different parts from other BMW engines.

Those are just a few, dude...

I highly recommend you stick in an M20 or M30 and start from there, they'll bolt right in, it's been done SO many times before you won't have a BIT of trouble with it, and they're just as tunable and can be made FI with ease.

Hope this helped.

This conversion is not only going to be expensive but unnecessary. You could probably sell that 318 for parts and buy a much cheaper Nissan shell.

Cars For Sale :: JE Import Performance

If you like BMW's and like the way they look, BMW engines are very smooth running engines and can make a lot of power.
