| hello to all i have an oil leak that is messing with my head it seems that it is coming from the oil filter housing this on a 92 325i right around where there is a plug??to the left of the oil sending unit where the housing is facing the back looking towards the firewall not where it is bolted to the engine anyone else experience this dilema?? thanks |

| Thats Crazy! I just found a leak that sounds exactly like that yesterday on my car. It has sprayed up all over the hood insulation pad. I think it is either comming from the vanos unit or somthing arount the filter housing. I had just recently changed the water pump and stripped out a bolt hole in the cylinder head where the vanos and a engine lifting bracket mount. I dont really know how im going to fix it yet, but hopefully when i do it will stop the oil leak. Anyone else ever do this? Here is a link. Its bolt #9 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...80&hg=11&fg=15

| not sure if 9 will make it leak.. but thats not too great that its stripped... try a helicoil if you can get or have a right angle drill. with regard to the leak for the TS.. post a pic. the filterhousings def have a history of leaking.

| there are many seals in the filter housing, i cannot see how any of them would be 800 bucks to change.. but then again, i am not down under.

| mine's spewing oil from there too i have a new housing on the way i don't want to deal with pressing out the plugs and changing the o-rings. i have a 9/97 328 with 121K miles |

| There is a gasket (No 8)and a couple of o-rings that need replacing. some of the bolts are a bitch to get at but it is do-able if you can do basic repairs! http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...88&hg=11&fg=30
