alternator question

hey guys i have a 325i and my alternator recently went out.. i was wondering since my original alternator is a 105 amp, would there be any hazards running an 80 amp alternator to replace it.. im in this dilemma because when i ordered a new one the autoshop ordered me the wrong piece.. the sales person said there wouldn't really be a difference since im not running any big aftermods that would affect the alternator. also this new smaller alternator they gave me doesnt have the external fan as the original one does it has an internal one... do you guys think i should just install this alternator or should i get the correct part.. im just eager to get my car running my school starts in a few days..

by the way my alternator was a bosch if that helps... :\

I run the 80 amp in my race car, it'll work fine for you as long as you don't have lots o' stereo or aftermarket lighting. Make sure your battery has a good charge to start out with, bmw alternators charge weak anyways no matter what the amps.

..no more need to reply to this post guys... i just put in the 80amp and it runs fine.. not to mention i have a dvd player installed in the car.. so yeah the alternator bought from kragen runs well... :]
