how do i put on sidemarker on 92 e36

i am planning on getting sidemarkers for my 92 e36s, should i get the ones that come on the 95-96 model or the smaller ones that come on the 97-98 ones? i like them both but the newer ones are cheaper on ebay.

also what is involve in putting it on, how do i make a hole in the fender? drill? i already know how to do the wiring just need to know how to bolt them on.
