318i Heater problem

Hi guys, i am having some problems with my heater, it does not blow hot air in the low speads, if i am in the high way and driving like 40-70 mph then i can feel the hot air, but when i hit the traffic and go below 20mph the heater starts to blow colder air, even though the car temperature gauge is showing normal on middle. the car has no problems warming up. I was thinking if it is thermostat, which i am planning to replace today, but again if it is thermostat how come my car worms up normally??
any ideas what else i should be looking for? did anyone experience the same thing? how did you fix it?
Specially now it's cold in outside i want to get this fixed sooner.

what your saying sounds quite normal but to the extent that it bothers you means there must be a problem somewhere, the thermostat could be getting stuck opening not a rare thing bmw have a terrible heating/cooling system could be a faulty tx valve or actual heater core see what happens after you replace the thermostat.

Check your coolant level. Low coolant will cause this problem.

I had a related issue in my 328. When the car was not moving, I had little to no heat. When the car was in motion, I had full heat. It turned out to be my heater valve as diagnosed by my local dealer. It's not a cheap fix but it's nice to have my heat when I want it.
