What parts do i need for a m50 manifold upgrade?

Ive been reading up, but i havent seen any actual parts that i need to install a m50 intake manifold in my 1996 328. I work at a BMW dealership, so i get parts pretty cheap, wut exactly do i need?
Thanks

Ryan.

I would also like to know what other parts I need other then the manifold itself, and how much they cost, as I would like to do this mod pretty soon.

k... so you lose some torque and gain a bunch of HP in the top end. Which top end? the top speed of the car, or the high RPMs of the engine?

Do you need software for it to run correctly? Obviously software will be better, but is it still ok to install without software?

For people who have done it, I'm not interested in your dynos but your 1/4 slips.. How did this mod increase performance on the strip? How much did it increase performance in any other racing you've done?

yes with software you will not lose any low end torque and get power through out the rev band without software you may run a bit lean well that is what happened to a buddy of mine with a 99 328

I am doing this mod right now, (waiting for the damn rain to stop, no garage) You do NOT need software to run the m50. It is is said you need it run m50 and M3 cams, but I have talked to someone with those mods with no software and he is fine. I am running the standard shark injector and that will be fine. You can, however drop like 600$ and get cam-specific software which will optimize the mods.
Good luck!
Josh

it will take a lot of power for you benefit from a 3.5 hfm and intake. For now you would benefit from things that would necessitate the HFM, like cams, pulleys and software.
sooner or later tho, you will have all of these things, it will never stop

I did this on my '98 323. You don't need an install kit or cams or software to get great performance from this mod, but they will give you more power. The only part I purchased was an adapter plate from Road Race Technologies, Inc., phone #703.661.4222, for $20 and misc hoses and clamps at the local Advance Auto. When you first remove your old manifold, the bundle of hoses can look daunting. Clear your head and focus and you will make sense of what to do. Also, make certain that you have the small vacum connector BMW part #11611738629, it makes it easier to set up. Use hose clamps (you will know what I mean). I also replaced all six seals because I didn't what to do this again. The M50 intake I purchased came with the original temp sensor, I works fine. The car is not running lean, I have no check engine codes and I'm guessing an easy 15 horse power. No I don't have a dyno sheet or 1/4 times to prove it. Trust me, you'll see. Pete

I have this mod on my M3. You dont need software but so far I have been unimpressed with this conversion. I hope software changes that. It feels like I lost a lot of torque and didnt gain that much top-end. I will be getting software soon hopefully.. :/

Software

I got my M50 conversion done by Alex @ Eurospeed in NC. He let me drive the car after the swap, the top end was good but midrange was lacking. Then he downladed the s/w and said try it now...WOW Def. a worthwhile update. The software is the magic behind the manifold swap. Dan on here FissionFX was the first one to work w/ Eurspeed and get that swap with the s/w that I am aware of, the dyno is posted here somewhere.
Thats a before and after of Tq and HP

well software isn't going to add anything. Atleast from my butt dyno.

You didn't notice a difference with the m50? I loved the way the car felt afterwards.

I wasnt really that impressed considering the amount of money I spent on parts/install. The $ to power wasnt right for me.

My car is pretty much stock otherwise so perhaps thats why I didnt get the kind of gains I was hoping for. I have exhaust sitting in my garage waiting for new exhaust hangers to be put on. I also have a 3.5" intake w/ hfm waiting to be put on.. need dinan 5 but dont have $800 at the moment.
