Installing navigation system. Need help???

I'm installing a navigation unit in my car. I'm just about done, but I need to hook up the speed signal wire. I have no Idea where to find this wire. I looked at some web pages and still came up with nothing. My car is a 96 328is.

Being a '96 you have a Siemens DME MS 41.1 ECU. This came with the M52 and S52US (M3) engines. I do have a complete pin-out of the ECU, but I don't see anything about vehicle speed listed. There is a wire (pin 36) for "engine speed output", but I doubt that you need this one. The vehicle speed is integrated with the ABS and ASC+T sytems. There are 5 pins for the AST module, but it doesn't say what wire corresponds with what. The pins are 15, 45, 80,81, and 82. Looking at the ECU from the back (connector side) the pin layout is as follows:

Top row from left to right: 28 - 1
Middle row from left to right: 55 - 29
Bottom row from left to right: 88 - 56

You might want to just run a wire down to one of the wheel speed sensors. The fronts are measured seperatly, and the rears are measured jointly.
