Which would be cheaper in the long run M3 or OBDI conversion

When I bought my 328is I was thinking of doing an OBDI conversion, engine suspesion, M3 manual transmission ect ect ect. But now that I think about it would it be cheaper to just sell the 328 and buy an M3 or not. How much would you pay for a 95/96 M3 with around 100,000 miles, or would it be cheaper in the long run to buy a less mile car and not do an engine rebuild

When I first was in the market for a bmw, I thought the same thing. Cheaper insurance, with a fast car. But theres just too many things to upgrade to convert to m3. I just spent the extra couple grand and got the m3. Depending on your budget, I would just look for the cleanest, less mileage car you can find. I saw a mint 96 m3 2dr cosmos with 60k miles go for 14. I wanted it but they sold it within an hour of it being for sale =\. Just gotta look hard. Oh yea, and Id pay 10-15 depending on condition/miles for 95-96. 13 being average of what you will probably spend for a decent one.

if you obd1 conversion your 97, you'll never be able to sell it, as it's no longer smoggable. get the m3.
