Engine reccomendations for 1983 E30!!

Hey Guys,
I currently have a 1983 323i E30 Beema. I have done nearly everything possible inside and out to the car and now its time for the engine. I am located in Australia, and have a budget of about 5-6k, (i know thats not much for an engine transplant but yea..) . I would love to put a s52 in my car but i am pretty sure that this will blow my budget. I am leaning towards a m50 325i as i can get this with ecu, wiring loom, clutch and gearbox for 4k. If people could recommend their ideas on different engines, and what i would need/am missing for the transplant, and if they know how it goes in the e30.

I have a m88 3.8 stroker and tranny out of my wrecked m635, if you double your budget it could be yours...

I'd go with a m30, reliable, cheap to run, and power is easily extracted out of them, they are also cheap and pretty easy to come by. With that said, they are on the heavier side, and might take more modifications than a standard 325 lump.
