'89 M3 for sale, questions...

there's a dealership near me selling an '89 M3 for 11 or 12 grand...I don't know much about them but I really like them...it's red (new paint) with black leather interior, one rip in the drivers seat seemed to be the only problem inside, outside is super clean, it's stock sept I think it has exhaust, I didn't get to look at it much but I was just wondering if you guys think it's a pretty good deal or no? It's got 115k miles on it...Also, if I do get it, is the lug pattern on them 5x120 per usual or something different? Thanks

That's a pretty good price for a car like that.... I would try to talk him down to 10500, b/c it's gonna cost you to get the seats redone, and you need to get them both done so they will match. If you can get it for that you almost stole it, provided that it runs well and the bushings and suspension is in order. I would check the timing as well, if I am not mistaken the timing needs to be done every 50 to 60 thousand. Looks like it may have to be done soon.

the M3 can be big money to maintain, it's worth finding one that's been taken car of. (Following the $15k rule for E30 M3s is a good way to start when looking for them)

also, research on www.s14.net lots of great info there from common problems to what to look for when shopping.

and yes, they are 5x120, low offset so 5,6,7 series wheels fit fine. You'll need spacers if you want to run E36/E46 wheels.

yeah I went and looked at it more today and I decided I don't really want it, at least not this one, what the write up said in that link was true upon looking at it closer, it took 3 tries to get it started and took a few minutes to idle evently, and the paint isn't that great, etc, so I'll stick to looking for another Nissan or maybe an E36 if I find one to my liking.
