| Trade E30 for a VW? I know, it may seem a step down, but I'm wondering if someone might like to trade for an 89 VW Golf? I would like to have a E30 318 or 325 in reasonable condition for use as a daily driver and occasional autocross car. I have been using my Golf this way for a year now, and I would really like to go to rear wheel drive. I don't really care if the paint's crappy or the interior shoddy.
Anyway, the Golf is in very good condition. It has about 6 small surface rust spots. It is lowered with H&R progressive rate sport springs and a set of KYB's. It has a modified airbox, , 2 1/4" stainless from cat back through a turbo muffler, and sport seats lifted from a Jetta GLI. Also has Grant racing wheel. The best part is the CWS performance chip. At a free dyno day it registered 122 HP at 5500 RPM. It pulls strong all the way to the 6500 RPM, and due to the CWS chip it no longer has that annoying off-throttle injector shut down. I have the dyno sheet somewhere, I've recently moved and will have to dig it up. There's alot more power available with more engine mods, but I wanted to stay in a certain class in my AutoX Club.
I finished 2nd in class is season points last year in my autocross club, behind a nasty Acura.
It is a rock solid car and still gets 34-36 mpg on my daily commute.
Please don't flame me for thinking that the Golf is the equal of a 318/325. I know better already. I'm just thinking that someone may have a 318/325 that just sits, or don't really want after the acquisition of another car or whatever. It's very important to me that any possible trade car be ready for immediate use as a daily driver. I prefer a coupe, and manual trans is a must.
I'm a member of BMWCCA, and I need a BMW! Last one I had was when I was stationed in Germany in the late 80's. 320i, great car!
Thanks for your time!
