e30 ext mod help! just a few Qs.

hey all, I own a 86 325e. 4dr. I know for sure that I'm going to kit it.. not sure which kit tho, possible the bmpd kit (not with the intercooler). Also I'm thinking of taking off the chrome, since it did belong to my dad he has some stupid emotional attachment to the chrome around the driver side and passenger windows. I need to replace these, is there somewhere where I can buy the black version of the chrome, just so i can keep the chrome trim for him when I do get a new car eventually? I know the easiest way would be to paint it, but when I look at most of your pictures, the trim doesn't pop out as much as the chrome pops out? Also the trim that wraps around the car doors (that strip of black and chrome) Yours also look thinner then mine.. here is a pic of the nearly same car, sept mine is black on black.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1872470113

okay im also gonna drop it, i have bmpd catalog, so ill talk with them about all that junk, but exterior chrome wise any of u have some tips? Also how much is a Dinan Chip for the e30, or should i go with Bavauto or something.

one last question, i want to go with the compomotive MOs, but my dad wants to go for a stock wheel look. Anyoen got some pics of the e36 M rims on the e30s? some 10 spoker pics and 5 spokes. Would those fit? And is best bet to get them off ebay?

Thanks for help

No offence, but there's been about 800 threads that answer those exact questions. I would suggest looking back through several pages of threads for detailed answers.

Well I don't know about a good kit or dropping it, (haven't done either), but I have a 1986 325es that I chipped and K&N'd. I did alot of research on chips and I found the BEST gains were through the turner motorsport/ Jim Conforti Chip. check it out

I went with the Jim Conforti chip after reading how much people like it. After about 4000 rpm my car kicks my ass back in the seat, which it didn't do with the stock chip. Personally you probably can't go wrong with any chip. Also, try to make your car breathe a good as possible to coinside with the chip. If you want more advise, I say drop the whole rim idea and go to performance first. Later when you can afford rims you can also get some sick sport tires. Believe me, I work at Discount tire.

goto my website, the link is in my sig, goto the DIY section, then the bodykits section, it should help you get a clue about whats availible for e30's.

as for the trim, the trim differs slightly between 2 and 4 doors, maybe this is the difference your noticing?

Okay Okay, I understand thats its been spoken before, okay to make it clear, I can purchase some Blackout trim tape?

2 Qs on that, do I need to prep the trim at all? like sand off the alreay chrome? Will it black it out compeletely or will it look purple like a do it yourself tinter kit. Where can I purchase it, someone said CP store, not sure what that means.

And Im going to take care of performance and exterior all at once, so if anyone knows if the offset for the stock m3 10 spokers works with my 86 325e that would be great. thanks again.

no stock m3 10 spoke wheels dont work, they are 5x120 bolt pattern, not 4x100 like your eta has...

I have spax springs on my 325is and they are in my opinion the best bang for your buck(only $80). I have the 2.5 inch drop which may be too low if you want to auto-X but im not really into that so I think they work great. My words of advice, stay away from the BMW kit, the fiberglass parts fit like shit.

Yah ive done more research on the BMP kit, and most e30 forumers say that it fits like crap, so scratch that... correct me if im wrong but M-technic II is made by bmw? I searched ebay and found nothing except for the steering wheel. Anyone know a site to order the whole kit? Im not sure if im gonna get one new if it costs 4 grand..

Also I found a good deal on the tsw Edge 17x7s. They look clean on an e30 and only cost 390 on ebay. Also If i chipped it with Jim, but bought supersprint exhaust and it comes with its own chip, can 2 chips be put in? (maybe a dumb question) any other exhaust tips?
