alex, what do you think about adding cams to a sc engine? I have heard positive and negative things about both. I have been thinking of getting the cams before getting it tuned. If I could get traction i don't think you would have much of a chance
Let me know what you think about the cams. oh and it's carl not joey

Carl- my fault i don't know where i got Joey from!

I don't know too much about cams with FI, talk to ERT or AA, i'm not too sure..

The question is, can you get traction? Don't underestimate the all-motor 3.2

Alex, do you by any chance have the part numbers for the motor mounts used in our cars? I know they are 88' 535i but the dealership by me won't order unless i give them the last 7 digits of my vin to verify the order. The passenger side motor mount pretty much shattered in to peices.

Oh Rui's car does have a dyno graph of 450rwhp. He showed it to me and a bunch of other people at bimmerfest east. He used to have a haul ass S14 but he blew that motor and went with the S52. Plus a supercharger. Its sick.

Rui's s14 motor didn' blow up. my friend bought it from him and has it in his car now strictly track car.
I am gong to wait on the cams and see how a friend's car responds to them with FI then go from there. I definetly need to get some new meats out back.

jacob how is everything with your car?

"ah atleast someone can do math"

He is not here, but I'm sure he can do the math.

I would rather not repost an actual mathematical formula from Jim C. on how to calculate loss from a Dyno without his permission.

But there it is:
[quote]"Typically the driveline loss from crank to rear wheels is around 15-20%, most BMW's are close to 20%, Porsche 911's and Honda's are around 15%. So if you make 345 at the crank you should see around 276-289 hp at the rearwheels. The type of dyno will also affect the numbers as Clayton and Dyno Jet use different methods to measure the HP. ALSO note that the PERCENT LOSS is **NOT** the same as the FACTOR used to equate RW HP w/ shaft HP!!

Example:

Loss = 17%

RW = Shaft * ( 1 - 0.17)

RW = Shaft * 0.83

RW * 1.20 = Shaft

The factor is always 1/(1-(loss%/100))

For the math impaired.. here's a table of values

Percent Factor
Loss To Use
12 1.14
13 1.15
14 1.16
15 1.18
16 1.19
17 1.20
18 1.22
19 1.23
20 1.25

Enjoy,

Jim .

Sorry I was dividing by .75 instead of multiplying by 1.25. So its 316hp.

Didnt know it was a race engine, all I caught was the 253rwhp and 2.5l.

But here is the actual multipliers to use from now on when people are spitting out the "actual" flywheel #'s translated from thier RWHP #'s.

Man you guys have alot of power, i am glad to see it,

I will be installing some cams and other NA stuff in it later and am shooting for 350hp NA only, shouldn´t be a problem with a euro engine,

No alex I don't think he has Nos at all. I belive it to be real. like I said I only know what he said and showed to me at bimmerfest. He had it in the car at the show and on his mods list. He has two seperate(inner coolers/aftercoolers) If I remember correctly(which I prolly don't) I think he said somthing about alchool or somthing injected cooler. Not sure though. He had a whole system in the back seat with hoses and canisters of liquid of some sort. All confussing to me.
Peace
Pete
