| Well don't you think the air-bag would help?Im just talking about little bumps or bangs on a guard rail or something and your air-bag coming slamming into your nose and breaking it....now I really don't want my nose broken....

| I hit a gaurd rail at 70+ MPH and mine never went off... didn't need it to, I hit backwards, then sideways and sideways again on both the front and the reat of the car... I would have been in rougher shape if it deployed and I am glad it didn't. I would change to a sport wheel in a heartbeat... just keep the stock one for inspections and whatnot...

| ok, i have hit a pole at 40+ mph and no air bags have deployed. a friend was driving but i agree with the guy who posted that i couldnt live with the damage to my car at a significant speed. as long as you wear a seat belt, you are safe in most accident situations. drive safe and buckle up and you wont have much to worry about. now if you are a crap ass driver and can not judge speed, you might want to keep them. best of luck. later

| air bags...... My car is a pre-airbag model E30 so this is pretty much a non-issue for me. However, I think if you were to wear your seatbelts and use good driving skills (high performance drivings schools only improve said skills) then an airbag wouldn't be of much use since we are more likely to avoid an accident versus getting into one. If anything, the side curtain/head protection systems would be of great value in a side-impact collision where a serious injury is more likely to occur. Car enthusiasts like us don't look at driving as a passive activity (like the cell phone toting, shaving/applying make-up, or hugging a 75oz Pepsi between the legs while munching down nachos from AM/PM while driving crowd) therefore we are probably better than most drivers out there due to our interest in performance and car control. Its the other guy (or gal) who isn't paying attention we need to keep our eyes open for. Jon ![]() |

| i also have a 89 car, so air bags arent there. i love the 89 e30's best year for an e30. first gen airbags killed more than they saved, its a fact. in my 88 benz the air bag was probably dust, and if i hit something i would have gone blind. hheehehe |

My 325e's dont have airbags, but thinking of behin hit rear and pushed against somethgin frontal (ping-pong) , im glad teh seat belts at least are quality. Ah, insurance btw, might come cheaper if you do have airbags. And if you plan to remove them, maybe worth checking with your agent, to make sure youre kinda covered. You know, insurance companies turn the dime till it becomes a cent.. |
