What does a throttle switch do on an E30 ///M3?

Exactly which throttle swith. Are you talking about the flathead screw throttle/idle adjustment?? lol I dont have my car to look at right now but I do some about the throttle?

The TPS (throttle position switch) has 3 jobs.
1. to tell the motronic that the car is at idle
2. to tell motronic that the car is on gas
3. to tell motronic that the car is at WOT (wide open throttle)

On a M3 that is all it does! there are 3 prongs. They last a long time sence they are simple. But they can be out of adjustment. THe screws that hold it onthe throttle bodies can be slid back and forth.

If you replace it, put it on the TB's then, turn it untill you hear a slight "click" this is the base idle setting. then when you move the gas it should click off, then at WOT it should make another contact that you can't hear. The idle has a microswitch.

There is a way to test it, but i not sure about it off hand so I'm not going to post it.
