Best $140 I ever spent on my 325e!!!

Finally got around to doing full Inspection II on my E30 and adding performance intake. Ive got a 1987 325e and got the model E30-A1 Signature Motoring heat shield and the K&N filter for about $140 total (signaturemotoring.com) The power increase is fu%^king awesome and the sound is not any louder except and high RPMs where it howls! Very cool. Whole setup installed in about hour and a half (but I've got two left hands and take a cold beer after every half hour working).

So its worth it huh?
Ive never been sure on CAI's. Always hear mixed comments on them, i have a airbox with a k&n drop in, cant say ive felt any power increase...

same here. you get a max of like 5 hp out of a short ram intake. the best $70 i ever spent on my 325 was a used DINAN performance chip off craigslist. that will make your shiz haul

you still have the stock piece right? put it back on, take it for a spin on the dyno, then put that mod on and dyno it again. show n tell!

you can even submit it to the mftr and say some corny things like thanks you guys are the best, etc etc, and maybe they'll send something good your way like more parts.

i drive a 325e too. i also put a copy of the dinan chip on and have a short ram intake, but i dont know how much power i actually feel from it. I was thinking of taking the belt off the a/c compressor since it doesn't work anyways. You think if i do this ill feel a difference since its just a belt taking hp to spin and it doesn't do anything. Any ideas or comments?

haha yea well i had my water pump belt break on the highway a week ago and i had no choice but to fix it right than there and i had my friend drop off the new belt and the tools for the fan but when it came to the ac belt the compresor wouldnt move and i had no time to keep messing with it so i cut the belt and wow there is a differance but my ac does work so i got a new belt but im waiting for my headers to come in and i will do it all at once with my oil pan tray and gaskets. i say if it doesnt work take i out if it does work leave it in bc the one time u want ac its not there i know haha

yeah i live in florida its about 98 degrees in the day now... i have no a/c so i just put the windows down and thats the best i can do. So you are saying that I can take the belt off and ill feel a big difference in power and it wont hurt my engine?

o and also would 325i headers fit a 325e?

u will free up some power yea u will feel it and no it wont hurt the motor at all u will rev faster too i see it a little but i have a few mods done all ready i think that 325i headers will fit an e but im not sure so u need to look that up just to make sure

yeah.. thanks. and i heard something about swapping the i cams into the e? is it a direct swap?

that i dont know im just going to put a 272 cam in post that question but thinking about it i dont c y now too but is there a differance between them or are they the same?

i think the i cam is more durable since its made to handle higher rpms and will probably give me a little more hp. And about the a/c belt thing, i cant tell if it goes over the water pump, but i dont think it does. do u no?

no there are 3 belts first the power steering belt than the ac belt than the water pump and alt belt
