I specialize in the SR Swaps into Nissan Cars.... as far as the down and dirty details on this swap... as you said more than likely you will need to have a shaft made to transfer from SR Trans output to E30 Diff. which should be easy to do since the nissan uses the slip yoke at the transmission. I can make the engine run with wiring and whatnot - but getting it to cooperate with your OE Gauge Cluster may be a bit difficult.

what type of wiring stuff am I looking at? How difficult will it be? I am a stereo installer(dvd players and such) , so wireing is no problem to me. I was more interested in what wireing is needed besides power? Also if anyone has an idea of measurements on the motor mounts that would be awsome. thanks again for any help

well really all you nead is to find out the pin out of the e30 engine to body plug you have you starter signal alternator turn on coolant temp tac ecu relay etc. you would still get your spead from the diff and the coolant temp for the cluster could be a separate bmw temp in line with a small coolant hose in a small manifold made by zionsville auto sport just for these things, the drive shaft easy since the e30 has a front and back half you would just check the lenth you need and have a shop build and balance it. realy what it comes down to is do you have the tools to make the mounts everything else is easy once your have the engine in and $$$

sorry for taking so long to respond to the replies. I have since dropped the sr idea. I do apreciate the input. I had a mini cooper engine fall into my lap and I am now researching how to put that in and yes its the turbo model. The questions I have now are more on mating a rwd tranny to the mini engine. If any one out there has any ideas or links to this being done before that would be great. Again thanx for the input

Really the work it would take to make a e30 trany work would be crazy the bell housing would have to have a plate to adapt, that's the easy part you then have the clutch your Input shaft would have to be machined custom to fit, option two find Some crylser dodge trany that would work since a neon motor ,plus there no obd1 system to fall back to light you have with an s52 useing a 95 setup you would have to run a motec or someother stand alone so I'd say it's a setup only someone with a show car that trying to win best custom could say it would be worth the money. Sorry for any typo or runnons this post is from my iPhone Last edited by LebanonBavarian : 07-07-2009 at 08:49 AM.
