performance chips for my 84' 325e

im thinking about getting a racing chip for my e30. It says it will give up to 24hp and about 21ft/lbs of torque. I was wondering if anyone that has one can actually tell a difference from the stock ecu and the upgrade to the chip.

The chip is always useful, but sometimes it's better to change the engine.
