ENGINE SWAP HELP

im getting ready to put an m50 in my 84 325e wich currently has a rebuilt head(m20) if any one is interested. but im assuming im going to have to get a new tranny as well, but i was wondering if the m20 tranny will fit the m50, and what else im gonna have to modify, im getting a wiring harness with it, so im not worried about that unless there is something i should know that you guys have had issues with.

but any other tech helpful stuff you guys have from your swaps is going to be greatly appreciated

Have you used the search function or google? This has been done thousands of times and you should really do your homework. Not meaning to sound like a prick, just sayin. But yes, your tranny WOULD fit, but it's gonna be slow. For fast as can be, E36 tranny and a 3.73 diff. If your car was an E, you don't have an LSD diff and the gearing is going to be TALLLLLL.

that's what forums are for
to get feedback on questions

but that's besides the point. thanks for the info

hours of searching doesn't answer all the questions.

Then ask a question specifically, it's a loooong list of parts and a lot of labor. Did you get all the parts yet? E36 subframe, E36 steering rack, E34 oil pan, E21 brake booster, driveshaft, tranny, diff, figured out if you want p.s., OBDI wiring harness, 413 ecu and matching chip?

sorry, rack will work. But brake booster you do need. Driveshaft depends on which tranny you use. Diff speed sensor can be eliminated with the proper chip, but HAS to be the 413 ECU. And you have to be using a 93-95 engine wiring harness.
I got confused cuz we use E36 front suspension and racks.

well
im on a tight budget
well not so much a tight budget, but for the time being it's tight
once it's running and i sell the current vehicle i will have plenty of budget. but i was planning on using as much exsisting as possible, and later on replacing the tranny driveline and diff.

so pretty much the necessary is a brake booster
ECU
and chip?

and you said "we"
work at a shop?
