M42 swap ?? A lil help please

Hey guys,
I am the very proud owner of an '85 318i I've been slowly building it up and i did quite abit of research on a swap (becuase i still have the m10, can you say "UnderPowered") At first i was thinking of the traditional m50, which would be nice but i think i would rather put the m42 in (from '91 and later 318's ) one big reason is becuase of the weight, and also i plan on building it up before dropping it in (high compression pistons, camshaft, supercharger)
So here is my question, what do you guys think of this, is the m50 really going to be that heavy in my car or no big deal?? And most of all i have heard alot about the m50 swap but not much about M42 im assuming it would be the easiest right?

I wouldn't go high compression and a super charger. As for the M50, tons of parts available, super charger kits are also available, therefore tunning is very easy. I would go S50 personally. Or a M50 stroker. If money isn't a problem, a super charged M50 would be great, some may say turbo, but I'm a super charger fan myself.

if you're gonna boost, you'll wanna drop compression a bit

umm i wouldnt bother charging a m42.. becuase i have an m42 in my 318is. im gona do the m50 or s50 swap when i got time and money... thats my ultimate plan. then ill either turbo or supercharge that hehe

so you think it would be wiser to go for the M50 rather then M42 ? M50 swap was what i was originally going for but it would be more money for all the needed parts, wouldn't i also need a upgraded suspension becuase of the weight and power differance?
