what the hell

i hav an 87 eta and ive had this problem for a while now. my car id undrivable cuz every time i accelerate it falls on its face. it will idle fine most of the time though. anybody have any ideas what it my be or anything? when it does it, i turn off the ignition then it will run fine for a few seconds then do it again.

check the AFM, make sure there are no intake boot rips, check the ICV, there are a number of things that can do this.

how do i test the afm and icv?

well its not the icv, because i unplugged it then it started idleing extremely terrible, so i believe the icv is alright.
