Will this work? E30 project in the making

I am about to buy a E30 325is and then do a engine swap with an E36 Euro M3 S50B30 motor.
Today i met this guy with a very clean rarely driven 1990 316i saloon in very very very good condition. The interior is literally spotless.

Is the 316i chassis and engine bay the same as the 325is?
Will this car be suitable for the S50B30 engine swap?

I already know that I will have to do other mods like suspension, differential, transmission etc.

I used to have an 84 or 85 316i....man...talk about no balls! It was so long ago...and correct me if I'm wrong, but i think the damn thing was carburated! Only had it for a short time though.

Anyway's the 1990 316 engine bay is identical to a 325i.

The later 316i 88-91 (i believe) had fuel injection. The car I'm checking out is fuel injected.
Anyway I was getting no info on the 316i so i decided to go with a 1989 325is. I should be picking it up on Monday.
Availablity of parts was another issue since this is a strict Euro car.

should be more or less the same. i have a friend over here with that engine in an e30 although it was origianlly a 325is... anyway, that doesn't matter. he's here on dtm, maybe pm him. his user name is Linton

Sorry but I already made up my mind to buy the E30 325is. I wasnt looking for a 4 door salon anyway. Thanks for responding though.
