And here I thought the JPS edition was solely an e21 thing!

Mariano, check the posts above for the details on the mods. Not much different engine wise, mainly visual stuff, not much performace wise. But they did seem to have something else you might be interested in....M20B23.

The JPS cars were not region specific. To my knowledge there are only about 8 in australia... JPS (John Player Special) used to sponsor the 6series and the 3 series in the touring championships. The M3 E30's used to race were so popular that Frank Gardiner, the head of the JPS race team, picked up some E30's and mocked them up to look like JPS spec race cars but for the public. This is why there is no indication of the cars heritage on the VIN number.
All these cars are very special and i always wanted to mock my 6er up to look like a JPS race car... then i found the 3er for sale...

Hey, thanks for the comments. As Jake (streetspec_is) knows I have had some lowering springs for about 7months just havent put them in yet LOL. Yeah I wanted to keep her stokish but I don't know what stock is, I got the car with the front apron and mtec2 spoiler, I'm guessing It came with mtec-1 rear spoiler but I don't really know. Is there anyone who knows? I was thinking about getting the whole mtec-1 thing but can't seem to find anything

Thanks, Andy.

Nah, it's not really that easy here to find Mtech1 or Mtech2 stuff. I think both kits were factory options so in that sense they're possibly more common than in the US, but most people who bought e30s skimped out and bought a
bog standard 318i.

There are lots of 318i/323i e30s on the roads here but the 325i for example is very rare. The 325iS is even rarer and was the only e30 over here to come stock with a mtech2 kit. JPS e30s were even rarerer

Good info

thanks for the feedback on this it's very interesting. I am no closer to knowing the cars origen though. I will take some photos when out there next. On the wheels the car had alpina wheels on it when I first saw it. it has no pilar badges but it has been resprayed as part of its restoration and the steering wheel is out of a late 80's model.

mtech?????? and AWD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok more info on this car I am trying to get sorted. I think it's a 2.5 mtech engine from what I have read. It also has a genuine BMW AWD kit in it.
Yes awd it's not out of an e30 as it has large alloy plates on top os the struts to set up the camber so I have no idea where it came from.
This car is turning out to be full of interesting gear.
I also took it out for a short drive as it's not complete yet and it really moves. I drive a Prelude vtir and this thing would give it a real run in straight line. As for cornering it's hard to tell what it's like as I have never driven an older 3 series.
