Need Help, Planning a car, e30 w/ m50...

i am contemplating getting an e30, preferably a 325is, for my daily driver. on another forum i posted this:

im looking into making a nice daily driver e30...
my plan would be to get a car, wheels and fix misc blemishes on interior/exterior... then either swap an engine or turbo and rebuild... on a budget of 7000 or so..
does anyone have any information on this?

and someone replied:

if you want to swap...find a non vanos 92 M50 engine. Get a schrick 252 intake cam, swap the stock intake cam to the exhaust side, run a E34 M5 clutch and TMS flywheel, keep your gearbox if possible-you will want a 3.73 LSD and a custom chip.
This car will be very fast and cheap to build. 230 or so hp with more aggressive gearing and faster revs than an E36 M3, not to mention lighter.

how feasable is this? does anyone have any links to people who have done this? it sounds awesome... and im seriously interested in it. i was reccomended to come here and ask around....

Im looking to turbocharge my 87 325is and this is how I plan on doing it, im a poor college student and my dad is a mechanical engineer and has done work like this before and this is pretty much dirt cheap compared to a kit, but you have quite a higher budget than I do.

But with the above reply to your question, any thing is feasible with the right amount of money. But it sounds like it would work, but if you intend on keeping the gearbox, keep a close eye on it and see if there is anyway to make it stronger without losing the 3.73 LSD. trust me that LSD comes in handy. best of luck! Keep us posted with your progress if you do the engine swap would be very interesting to see how well it fits in the engine bay.

hmmm, after looking at that site, it seems completely feasable to make your own multi-throttle intake manifold in the same fasion they used to make the headers...
