| 0-100 time of a 1987 E30... Well,I timed mine at around (high)13s,while the factory gives a 0-100 of 11s.The car is an E30 3.18i from 1987 and has 108.000Km on the clock.Its in extremely good condition and I wonder whats wrong.It was serviced (oil change and the like) some 15 days ago... Any ideas ?!? A3TeRnuS

| a3ternus, Keep in mind that the factory had professional drivers performing the tests and was using professional timing equipment. There are about a million other factors that can affect your 0-100 time; weather conditions, type of pavement, tires, tire pressure ect. I wouldn't worry too much about something being wrong with your car. Are you in Athens, Ga??? I am in school at UGA and would love to meet up and see your ride sometime. -Clayton

| yes,that ****in 3rd gear is killing me! I reckon that its costing about 2sec+... Mind you,my car has a 4 speed manual... 2nd good for 90km/h,3rd s good for 120km/h and 4th is good for 180km/h (yes,redlined!!!). A3TeRnuS

| You COULD try swapping out to a different diff. But that would take away your highway cruising fuel economy. Also, since you redlined 4th, it WILL decrease your top speed. The other option is to get a 5 spd and a diff for that. Any of the ones from a M10 powered car ~should~ work, e21 or e30 mainly. But don't quote me on that. The BMW people were probably at a lower altitude in cooler weather. This means they made more power due to denser intake air. That can make all the difference.
