| How are you gettin them so cheap? I'm trying to get into dslr's and if i had a price like that on the xti package or 30d package you mentioned I would buy it in a heartbeat. I was thinking about getting a rebel xt with the kit lens for about that much money :-/ |

| btw, this is a really good site for camera reviews http://www.dcresource.com/ incase you are interested |

| I have liked http://www.dpreview.com for camera reviews; well organized and visually appealing. |

| You are quoting prices that sound a lot like fotoconnection.com ... PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THESE RIPOFF ARTISTS! Please read the reviews first: http://www.nextag.com/FotoConnection...z1zmainz17-htm They will try to upsell you on something once you place the order, if you decline - they will probably cancel the order on you... ... there are several other sites that run the same way... I actually think they are run by the same guys in the NY/NJ area... If it's too good to be true; it is. BTW - 30D = $1000 ; XTi = $800... if it's less it's either an open box or refurb if it's legit, or it's a scam...

| ^agreed. I buy my bodies through costco.com so I can return them under a 100% gaurentee. I reccomend the 28-135 IS USM to EVERYONE, it's a great $400 lens that many call the 'hidden L'

| I order from B&H. The prices are good, the service is good, and the quality it is good. I am a nikon guy, so that is my recomendation. I would advise agianst the tripods and memory cards that come in those kits. Get a good 1-2 GB card and a decent tripod. You will want quick release as a minimum. I suggest you page through FredMiranda.com. I am a member there as well. Best Joey |

| I order almost all my camera equipment from B&H, too. Gets here very quickly from NYC, they have great prices, and their customer service is top notch. They're very Jewish (Hasidic, I believe), so they're closed during the Sabbath (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown), so don't try to call or order anything during those times (the website won't let you). When I bought my Bogen tripod from them, there was one adjustment lever missing. I emailed them to see how I could get that fixed. I got a quick response (<1 hr) asking for more information, since the CS rep didn't know which lever I meant. So I scanned in a picture from the instruction manual and took a picture of the tripod, drew in arrows to show the missing part, and sent them to him. Again, very quickly, I got a response asking for my shipping information, which was forwarded on to Bogen for them to drop-ship me the missing piece directly. I think it was 2 or 3 days later that it showed up in the mail. Those prices sound entirely too cheap. IIRC, the 28-105mm and 70-300mm Nikkors should add up to $600 by themselves. Great lenses for the price; they're what I used with my D100 before I got bitten by the bug and started to buy $1000+ f/2.8 lenses, and replaced the D100 with a D200. ![]() |
