Ordered a new cam finally

I've been waiting a LONG time to order a new camera (the coolpix 995 just doesn't cut it anymore, and I've been stealing my buddy's Sony F828 lately) and I ordered a new Canon EOS 20d kit and a 4GB Card from costco a couple days ago. Now I just need to get a nice lens. I don't want to spend much more than $400-450 on the absolute high end for now (I will reserve ridiculous lenses for my next cam)

Any reccomendations?

Look for some wide/fish-eye lens too... but those are very expensive...

Cant help you much with a choice - I would give a call to B&H and ask for an advice.

I was thinking about making a trip up there with all this stuff to see about filters and more lenses, and to get some photos as well. Haven't been to NYC since 2000

That would be the best thing you could do. But remember - they're closed on fridays and saturdays (opened on sundays).

I have one of the sales rep's cell #s around here somewhere from a tech convention I went to for work. He told me to give him a call and he'd give me an afterhours tour

I ordered a polarizer filter for my 28-135 IS USM and a lens hood for it too.

camera comes on monday, lenses on friday, and the random stuff somewhere in between.

Yep, got the cam yesterday. and it was POURING outside.. so I didn't get a chance to get out and try it out. I still only have the kit lens until friday, but here's one shot I did get outside:

Nice but I would use some fill-in flash for the second one...

But first one is great - also explaining why it took so long for you to recieve the camera... packages in jail are being screened.. :-) j/k
