I depends, if I do a wash/wax it'll take about 3 hours. But a full wash/wax/vacum/tyre polish/vinyl wash and polish/wheels, will take around 5 hours. Some times I'll do it over a weekend. Wash and wax one day then do everything else the next. I do this once a month or every 6 weeks

Wow I must be quick or something. When I hand wash (most of the time, but not this time of year) it usually takes me 45 minutes max, from getting out the bucket to putting everything up afterwards. That includes tire shine and back to black on the mouldings if they need it. Add another 25 minutes to vacuum it out if it needs it.
Now when it comes wax day I can spend a good 6+ hours clay bar/polish/wax and then maybe another 2 or 3 to detail the interior. But thats only about every 2 months.
This time of year when its rainy about every other day and at most 50 degrees I just run it to the car wash, $4 and 8 minutes later the worst of the dirt and grime is off.

Yep. . .that's my time, too. Funny. . .giving the car a good wash takes less time than cleaning/conditioning the leather.

quick wash = 30 minutes
(sponge down.. rinse.. dry)

medium = 2 hours
(wash good.. rinse.. dry.. wax.. )

Extensive = Not going to say
(wash.. dry.. wax.. tires.. wheels.. rain-x..)
(interior: vacuum, carpet cleaning machine, dash, doors, windows, headliner, leather cleaner)

I completly lose track of time usually

It usually takes me a good 2 hours to wash it inside and out. That's a wash, dry, clean the wheels, clean the engine bay, polish the black plastic pieces, and a full interior clean (vacuum, armor all etc.).

Ummm..............45 minutes from wash to dry, cleaning and dressing the tires and black trim. Waxing adds another 30 minutes.

Am I missing something? You guys seem to spend a helluva long time just washing the car.

what is the best combination of things to do to make your car shine like it is from a showroom (just talking about the outside excluding the rims and tires)?
