| Re: Wax Build-up?? Quote:
Get a few more opinions here, but my guess is that's what you'll have to do! |

wash, clean the paint & rewax. Remember, wax in the shade & wax & buff 1 section @ a time. ![]()

| Thanks guys, I can see that there is no more wax to remove but it's fuzzy from a certain sun angle. I've been waxing my car a lot maybe that's the problem?? It doesn't seem to happen to you guys, weird. I always wax my car in the shade and look at it very closely when I buff it out. ![]() |

| I say strip the wax and start over. Wash your car with dish washing detergent not liquid and you can take off the wax. make sure it says detergent because it cuts through the wax, dish washing liquid is just like using car wash.

| i just waxed my car yesterday...i love the look. its so bright and shiny anyways...i also found that if you get some wax on the moldings(front and rear ones ), that if you don't have the stuff specifically made to keep them black( like back to black ), then acutally a little aromoral works excellent as well. my moldings are shiny and black. i am sure the results would be better w/the other stuff, but armoral works just fine. and my side moldings(stock ones)came out shiny as i wax those as well.![]() |

| Wow Im not sure if using dish washing detergent is the best thing in this situation. I would get some wax remover, strip it down to the clear coat and wax the car over again. Maybe the dish washing detergent does work, but just the sound of it scares me and my paint. Rocco

| Hold up there cowboys! Any dish detergent will cut the wax right off, lemon Joy tends to work best. It sounds to me like you have some build up, so heres the plan that I use to prep my trucks for memorial/funeral detials. 1. Hose completly with cold water 2. While wet, wash with 15% joy mixture in warm water, rinsing completly between sections. 3. Towel dry to avoid spots. -at this point all you have left is paint and gel coat- 4. Apply cleaner wax, buffing between sections. 5. Wash with cold water. Towel Dry. 6. Apply pure carnuba based "shinny wax", buffing between sections. 7. Wash with cold water. Towel Dry. 8. Finish with "Race-Glaze" or Meguires #26 Mirror Glaze. This is ga-ron-teed (the old cajun chips voice) system. When I'm done you can drive using the reflection of traffic on the hood To make the rims and tires all nice and tidy, Simple Green foaming wheel cleaner is the cats ass. Won't damage the finish, rinses easy and really gets the crap off. To do the tires I go with Black Magic Foaming Tire Wet, put it on heavy, let it sit for about 20 then towel it down. Now after reading this remember; what are firemen always doing aside from fighting fires? Thats right washing out trucks, I've gotten good at making them look good.

| Also remember not to wax in cold weather (like below 40) b/c it will make the wax that much harder to get off. I heard the diswasher stuff will scratch your paint real bad and leave swirl marks. It makes sense that it would work i'm just to much of a wuss to try it Good luck i hope your car returns to that mirror shine![]()

| Well Well Go ahead and use dishwasher detergent on your car, but ill tell you that it will never touch mine. Something just doesnt seem kosher about that. Rocco
