Coin-Up Car Wash I've gone to the coin-up car wash twice so far because I'm having a hard time finding a place that will do hand wash off the track. I would wash it myself...but I don't have a place to do so since I'm at school. I've been using only the high pressure water and soap. I spray the soap then I rinse it off, no scrubbing. I was wondering if the high pressure water/soap does any harm at all to the paint? Does it kill the wax in any way? What kind of soap do they use anyways? Thanks.

In general a pressure washer is OK as long as it is not too high of pressure(like pressure to take paint off a wall). Obviously they don't have the pressure that high so it should be OK. Depending on the soap it may remove wax. I would assume that they use mild soap so it does not remove wax but who really knows. Can you bring your own soap? The only other problem comes in where they get their water. A lot of places recycle the water after filtering. If the filtering isn't up to snuff then you could be shooting tiny particles of solids at your car with the pressure washer. Even if this is the case it should be better than a carwash that uses brushes that touch your car.

| Bring your own wash buchet already filled up and use their water to rince off. Their "wax" is kersoine! NOT GOOD FOR PAINT! Or is Silcone , again not good for paint!

DUDE don't take it to those quarter wash places. First you could buy the Xymbol Super-mega-delux-astro-expert-superman kit for as much as you would pay there. Second its bad on the paint, blasting dirt particles on your car; you might as well sand blast it. Find some place you could go and hand wash it. All you need is a hose and buck w/ some soap and sponge. Waxing is done in the shade so thats not a prob. Allways dry too w/ a shammy towel or something. Hope you didn't see my post as a flame Good luck finding a hose near your college.

Thanks for all the replies =). Yeah..I've been using it but shooting it from a little further distance. Looks very painful if I blast it from very close. I don't know what kind of soap they use, hopefully it's not killing the wax. I think I should really get some soap and a bucket and use their water if it comes to that. I'm gonna try to find another place to wash my car. Anybody else live around Westwood, UCLA area? =)
