| have car warm, not hot...... Cover Alternator, ignition coil, fusebox, and just make sure you cover all electrical connections and don't get any water down your ignition wires. Wait a minute...... um, you should never power-wash your engine. You should get a brush, degreaser and have a slow/low pressure nozzle to rinse your parts. IMO

| Nobody must do it. I have bad images of someone accidentally getting some water sucked up while the motor is running, and bad things happening. Get some Power Clean from Autozone. It comes in a spray bottle or a larger refill container with a handle on the top. The bottles are white and have purple lettering. Look for the degreaser that has the warning "Will cause burns" and you'll have it. I used this stuff when I was replacing the engine in my 'iS and it did wonders. It makes all the other name brand automotive degreasers that you find at the usual auto-marts look like water. Be forewarned - inhalation of even the smallest particle of this stuff cuases intense burning of the lungs and it can't be healthy. Use in a very well ventilated area and/or with a face mask. Spray it on, let it soak, scrub around a little bit, and rinse with clean water. Simple! |
