| Waxes I bought my '90 325is over the summer and it didn't need a wax then. But the time is at hand. Wax is gone and winter is upon us. What do you guys suggest using? What type of prep work should I do before the wax. (Is there a certain cleaner I should use or something?) The car is black, I don't know if some waxes are better looking on black than others. I bought it from the original owener who garaged it its whole life so the paint is in excellent shape. I'd like to keep it that way, unfortunately I lack a garage. I guess I'm just looking for a wax that protects, makes the black look good and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. (college=no $). Thanks for any help. |

| I use One Grand Blitz Wax. It is easy to apply and remove. I got it from www.carcareonline.com

| Zymol! Go for Zymol wax! $10 from your autoparts store or even K-mart. It comes in a baby blue bottle and works awesome! Before my new paint job I waxed the car with zymol and got a few comments: "Did you jsut get it painted?" "Wow, who did the paint job?" It's good shit! ![]()

| Thanks guys. I've heard Zymol was the best before but how long will that tiny bottle last? Also since it's $40 and college=no $, what is second best and has a reasonable price? Whats the difference between the liquid stuff and the compound? In washing the car beforehand, should I use a car wash soap or will dish wash soap suffice? Thanks |

Carnauba wax to be precise. 1 grand is about $15 from car care online. I just did my winterizing wax last wekeend. Let me tell, it shines like a new car! But the tutorials are worth it just for checking the site out. ![]()

| Better than all thet is Zaino. I find it to be easy to apply and remove. It will make your paint look and feel deep. Why go with the cheap candle wax shit? http://www.zainobros.com/index.shtml

| Is this Zainos stuff really that good? people seem to like it, but does it work? I have some heavy swirls and need to remove then, I am just excited by the testamonials and descriptions.... Does it do all it claims to do? |

| I haven't had the problem with heavy swirls, but people swear up and down that the 3M swirl remover is excellent, then apply the Zaino. I would also buy different sponges, one for tires/rims and one for body. Also get the "Absorber" in Walmart,it dries excellent and is synthetic and doesn't scratch the paint. Good luck! Need tips, e-mail me.
