| Badge Removal Help I have a '98 E36 and want to remove the dealer badge. I know how, with the heat gun and dental floss, but what I need to know is whether it will leave a mark (such as in faded paint). The overall paint on the car is good- it seems to have spent most of its life indoors with frequent waxing. Does anyone have any experience in this matter? Thanks |

| if it just a vinyl decal it should not leave much of a mark after you wash a maybe buff it.... but if it is a metal/plastic kind they use a type of 3M double sided tape to hold them on.. it should come off just like you mention with a heat gun/ or hot air dryer and some dental floss. but it might leave some glue residue. to get that off you may need some sort of solvent, much like varsol and now do this part very very lightly and carefully ( i really can't stress this enough) but just lightly rub a microfiber towel with varsol on it and gently rub off the residue. then rinse with water and apply some wax

| Debadging is so easy. I have done it three times (mine and friends). I just used dental floss to remove the badge, then used a decal/sticker remover that does not harm paint on the residue. I soaked it twice and waited 5 minutes, then used a card to gently lift up the remaining residue. Result was spotless. |

| yeah i've done it a few times, shouldnt leave a mark. i did it on my sisters black bmw and it didnt leave a mark, just make sure you go slow no to leave scratch marks behind. |

| what we also do at the shop is just spray it off with the pressure washers, the hot water combined with the high pressure take them off very efficiently

| I debadged my 2000 5-series over the summer. My car is Titanium Silver and after I buffed the area up you would never be able to tell that a badge was ever there. Maybe with darker colors on older cars there might be a difference, but I don't think the paint on BMW's fades that badly. |

| use a ruber eraser wheel or anthing rubber to remove the glue, dont use ur hand you'll get a mad blister, polish up the area with any type of polish it'll look good, mine does. |

| well everybodys idea was better than mine, got tired of looking at my badges, so i used a razor blade, im a dummy ,but it worked and only left a very small nic,not noticeable, but dont suggest you do this ,my moneys on the dental floss method

| i have a BMW 318i 96 model which was de-badged by the retard who was cleaning/detailing the car, he snapped it off, it came off in 2 pieces but didn't leave a single mark. anyway for shits and giggles im going to put an M5 badge there :P |

| goo-gone or goof-off take off sticky glue you will have to douse it and scrub with a soft cloth (terry cloth/etc.) to get it all off.. the spot might look a little different than the rest of your paint, but waxing will take care of that (unless your paint is totally shot to begin with) good luck! |
