Ditto!! I have dove grey vaders that the previous owner didn't keep very clean. The leather itself is in good shape, but they are pretty dirty. What would be the best cleaner to use without damaging the leather?

To elaborate on what I said yesterday (I was tired...):

A buddy of mine had an M3 in the same situation. Dove grey vaders that looked like someone would touch after reading the newspaper every day. Parts of it were almost black, and the creases in the leather were black. After application of Leatherique Prestine Clean (yes, that's how the spell it) and a little work with a soft toothbrush in the creases, the leather was back to dove grey. And the rejuvenator oil is the best thing I've found to condition the leather. Just slather it on, close the doors and windows, let it bake in the sun for an hour or more, then wipe off the excess. I've used the Meguiar's Gold Class stuff, as well as the Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner pair, but I like the results I got with Leatherique a lot more.

Never used Leatheriqe....I will try it too, but I have always used lexol conditioner and lexol-ph cleaner. It has always worked well for me. But I have only used it on black leather and blue leather. No cracks on a 312000 mile interior though.

to clean the leather... use a compressor to blow any dirt or grime off of it. then use spray away glass cleaner or a foaming glass cleaner and spray it on the leather. use a light grey scotchbrite pad and gently rub the leather (DO NOT SCRUB HARD) and then use the compressor to blow all the left over wetness and grime into a rag and wipe dry. Once the leather is clean and dry use a good conditioner and rub into the leather...

Another leatherique user here. Definitely the best system I have used. I did one of my old E30s seats with their dyes and products, the results were amazing.

i've never used leatherique but i hear that it's a great product, the reason i don't use it cause i can't find a store in my city that sells it, so i use meguiar's gold class leather cleaner/conditioner. works great for me and i have white leather

I used to own CLPW Leather and Leathercraft supplies and dealt with a few car interiors, but my main business was leather. Lexol was the best conditioner that I ever used. To be fair, however, I didn't ever try "Leatherique". Never even heard of it, until I came onto this board.

There was another post, that I saw, which involved someone looking to "bleach" his car seats.

What he needs, is not bleach, but to remove the old finish with a preparer, and put on a new coat of "Nu-Life" spray-on finish. It has both the dye and the sealer in it. If you try to "dye" a car seat, without the sealer, built in, the dye will, at some point, begin to rub off on your clothes.

This occurs, simply because, you wear off the sealer, then have the raw dyed surface rubbing against your clothing. If the sealer is built in, as in NU-LIFE, it bonds each part of the dye-stuff.

Charles

You know leather from 1985 to 2008 are mostly protected leather. Meaning they have a protected coating that over the leather hide itself. So conditioner not going to do nothing cause protected coating is barely going to absorb the conditioner.

Also don't use woolite to clean leather.
