Hey Dewey - More Clay Bar Questions...

On your site you explain the process of using a clay bar to remove contaminants from the paint. I'm ready to order some supplies from your store, but can you tell me how much clay you think I'll need? For example, if I were to clay an entire 540 or 740 sedan, your site says: "You will probably need 4-12 pieces of clay for your entire car."

Is that 4-12 200g clay bars? I just to be sure I order the right amount.

You'll only need one bar. It says to break the bar into pieces (half size of golf ball), so your not mucking up the whole bar on one car/detail job.

Yes one bar should be fine. Break it up into 4 to 6 pieces and roll into a ball. Then flatten into a little pattie.

Make sure after you clay each section you reknead the clay as well.

Ok I have a question Dewey. There's usually two types of bars out there, fine grade and medium grade. How come you only carry one or which grade is yours?

Mine is the fine grade, Most of the people I cater to have higher end cars with nice finishes there is really no need for the heavier grade clay. Used more in body shops for overspray removal etc. I can get it if you need it just e-mail me.
