Help with Scratches

I've got a few scratches on my car I don't know how to get rid of, so I was hoping you guys could assist me.

Its a pretty new car as well, bought it August 06.

You will really need to use a buffer or polisher to get those out. If they are through the clear and color layer they may not come out. Start out with a light compound and see how that goes you may need to get a bit more aggresive. Then you will need to work your way back with lighter compound, polish, glaze, wax etc.

Whats the difference between buffer and polisher? Buffer just a heavier version of a polisher?

What kind of prep work do I need to do prior to polishing? Guessing wash really well, but anything else?

As well, when you say light compound, what is that referring too?

Sorry for all the questions, i'm pretty new to the whole polishing thing. Always been afraid of hurting the paint, so never tried it.

The thick white scratchs not goin to get out can try with a polisher, as for the other scratch x will remove them by hand not totally but 95%....
