| Time for the winter...need to wax OK...Here's the deal. I told myself I would never get a black car until I was faced with the opportunity with a black M Coupe. I hear nothing but people having problems waxing a black car and seeing massive swirl marks. Well...it's time to put the winter coat of wax and was wondering who has any recommendations on a great wax for a black car?

| Zymol, many light coats! Or griots 3 step wax, or whatever its called! Remember many light coats is better than one thick one ![]()

| I used Griot's Garage Best of Show Wax on my brothers black M3 (after clay bar and polish) and it looked GREAT. No swirl marks, shiny as heck, and lasted a long time. Easy to do also. Bought the whole set for about $50 from www.griotsgarage.com |

| Clay bars are great. They do a lot to make your car's finish as smooth as can be. Most detail companies make them. I got mine from Megaiurs and it came with their Quik Detail to use for lubrication... though have heard you don't really need it.

I use 3M hand glaze and one grand blitz wax. Its a good combination. Go to www.carcareonline.com they have good tips and recommendations.

| Clay barring is just the first step, after you do that then polish it really good, then put the wax on last. You want nothing between the wax and your paint so it will look its best, last the longest, and protect the best. Groit's sells several 'kits' that include all this stuff, I bought the hand polishing kit. Stuff that I use: BMW car wash, Groits: clay bar, polish, wax, Meguiars gold class leather car and tire shine, and Mothers back to black for the trim mouldings. |
