Keying

should be going to look at an E36 318i in the next day or 2 and if all is well with it ill be buying BUT its been keyed on one door and one fender. i was thinking a touch up pen and try to buff it out. there any other quick fixes? cant afford a respray yet and i still fancy moving up the BMW ranks so i wouldnt be keeping the car forever unless i decide ive done too much work to the car and opt for an engine swap down the line.

Try to post some good pics. If I can see it I may be able to make some suggestions.

ill put a pic up tomorrow. just washed the car so ill take one before it gets dark. if you run your fingernail across it you can feel the scratch. i was thinking of a touch up crayon and polish the shit out of it or touch up pen/paint and wet sand with fine paper then polish it out?

theres also a LOAD of scratches on the trunk lid for some reason. i will have to either have that resprayed or wet sand it.

That trunk lid is something else. You're going to need some serious love to get that out, or just respray. As for being keyed, prolly best bet is too use a paint pen and then wet sand it down, then polish it all. But I have yet to try this technique, so don't take my word for it. I just know you wont be able to buff that scratch out.

you can try Meguirs scratch X on it to try and tone it down abit buti really think you'd need to paint it, perhaps do it yourself, depending on your skill, but you can get spray bombs for most carpaint supply stores, and use nice light coats and wet sand in between coats and top it with a half decent clear coat, it might look passible for a few years, you'd just have to get your paint code and get a body shop to mix the paint for you, none of that Candain Tire or Pep Boys crap. a real body shop can supply you with PPG or better paint brand that will match the car
