I don't know what's Turtle Wax and what isn't, but I've used the Zymol Cleaner Wax before. It gives a decent shine, but it's a PITA. DON'T let the stuff dry on your car, or you'll have a devil of a time getting it off again. Your arms will be tired when you're done no matter what you do. I gave up on the stuff a couple years back and switched to the Meguiar's burgundy bottle stuff. Much easier to use.

Now, I get my stuff from Dewey (Superior Detail Supplies, one of the supporting vendors), and apply what I call the "CMT Method" (search in this forum for his detailing instructions). Nothing else compares.

I own a Detail shop in Madison, WI and can tell you that Zymol is an OK product. Its not the best, not the most expensive or the cheapest, but there is MUCH better product for the price. If your prefernce is to use Zymol, thats fine, its does the job just fine, but plan on reapplying the wax every 30 days or so.

What's your opinion on Meg's Gold Class wax? I normally use that.

Yes the gold class is great wax. That is all I use to use until I found a superior Paint sealant by P & S products. The sealant is what I use on every detail now, its quite a bit more expensive but lasts a TRUE 6-12 months. I have had it on my own personal vehicles and even after washing the vehicle everyday, the water beads up with micro fine beads AFTER 6 months!

Another decent wax is the Meguires Cleaner wax. It has a swirl polish intergrated into the formula which gives a nice deep shine. Again, any wax will last 30-90 days MAX.

No the result woulnd't be any different. However, being that your BMW is a dark color, I would at the very minimum invest in a low speed orbital waxer. That way you will be able to polish your vehicle and "fill in" the small swirl marks and normal everyday "spider web" scrathes before waxing. This helps the wax to adhere. If this is not somethign you plan on doing, you could always use a quality detailers clay and clay the exterior with the bar and some instant spray wax. Then wipe it all down and give it a good quality hand wax and that should do wonders!
