Pressure washing the exterior of the car is actually very safe not to mention pressure washing your wheels

Unless you are under an inch from the surface of the paint OR you are trying to clean a re-painted car, a pressure washer will not harm your cars paint. We use a pressure washer @ work to clean every car on the lot, and may I point out that I work at a Jaguar dealership...on some, lower-end vehicles such as a honda civic or mazda minivan, if you were to pressure wash i.e. the bumpers of those vehicles, the paint would easily be removed with the use of a pressure washer if you got too close (~3in. from surface), the paint is more fragile in those areas and it makes it easier to take the paint off. Pressure washers make detailing much faster and easier and I wouldn't steer anyone the wrong way about using a pressure washer on their car, especially a BMW, take it from a pro detailer that it will NOT harm your bimmers paint as I have used one on my car numerous times and have got nothing but excellent results with its use. Don't be scared of it, its like a buffer, once you get used to it and know it capabilities, you'll have nothing to worry about.
