Meguiars NXT Tech Wax

I'm still new to the detailing section but i'm trying to learn to wax my own car. i wash my car every weekend giving it a good wash and then send it to the autodry car wash so the car can dry on it's own. while those car washes work well they happen to leave spot/water marks on my car, not sexy at all. just bought some meguiars nxt tech wax for like $18(IMO expensive) and after washing and drying my car i applied some of the stuff onto my hood and trunk. for a black m3 with chips in the paint it looked really nice and felt real smooth like glass. this weekend i plan on using tech wax on the entire car to get really good results and possibly take some pictures of my hard work. anyone else work with this stuff? i'd like to hear tips and advice on how to handle with this wax to get really good results.

i have a bottle of that stuff i use when i need to do a quick wax instead of a full detail. IMO it works quite well! it fills in small swirls and scratches and leaves a nice shine. you can apply it in full sun(it says on the bottle as long as the car is cool enough to touch) oh and also shake well, i forgot to shake it after it sat for a while and it was really soupy.

i just recently spent about 50 bucks on detailing supplies from superior detail supplies! its becoming an addiction!!! lol

only problem I've heard of the NXT is that it does not last as long as other brands of wax. Bascially you need to re-apply every couple of months. I still prefer the old Gold Class Wax, it gives your paint better protection IMO.

^^^He's right. I used NXT on my Met. Harvard Blue Pearl Honda Civic for nearly two years and I must say its the best over-the-counter wax product you can buy. The best results I got with it was when I applied it with a low speed 4 1/2" orbital buffer I got @ Wal-Mart for like $20. The little buffer only has one speed @ about 1,000rpms and paired with a terry cotton pad and a liitle NXT, it actually made my 9 yr old civic look new! Of course I also claybared my car before I waxed it which achieves an ultra-smooth finish, which is nessacery with all rough textured paint finishes.

With NXT a little goes a long way, and always dampen the pad before you apply the wax, it will make waxing on and waxing off a hell of a lot easier remember that!! Applied too thick and NXT tends to haze over on dark colored cars and cause an ungodly glaring finish to appear for days untill you wash it a couple of times...believe me I KNOW!!! This can be especially important if your using a mini-buffer like I discussed above, as you can carry a small dab of wax over actaully a couple of doors before you have to re-apply to the pad.

Results are amazing, however, it is only a synthetic wax, not a carnuba, which pretty much means its going to fill in and cover up most of the sh*t in your paint, but it wont last more than a month. I always tried to re-apply NXT at least every other wash or every other week with NXT spray detailer in between waxes to maintain gloss! I now use a line of Poorboys and Clearcoat products from www.superiordetailsupplies.com , paired with a 7336 Porter Cable variable speed buffer, they work even better on my silver bimmer! Good Luck with your results

i use NXT on my car but recently gave a try to Gold Class, and both leave two completely differnt finishes, Nxt has more of a shine and gives more depth to the paint whereas the Gold Class leaves a really nice gloss shine finish and looks fantastic. I'd recommend both products. But like discussed above, NXT DOES NOT last as long as you would hope.
